Kolkata – July 01, 2026 - Booking Master has officially launched Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in its Hotel Management System with effect from 1st July 2026. The objective is to prevent profit leakage caused by unauthorized access or system changes that eats away hotel revenue.
What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security process that requires two different forms of identification to access aparticular system.
It is different from a standard combination of user name and password as it uses an additional one-time code for verification which is sent through a separate channel.
Therefore, if someone manages to guess the password, they still need to go through that additional step in order to log in to that account.
How Booking Master's 2FA Works
Booking Master's Hotel Management System uses role-based access control and multi-factor authentication to ensure that every login is secure, verified, and fully traceable.
All users have a registered email ID and phone number. At the time of login into the system, each user will get a one-time passcode on WhatsApp, email and other authenticators like Google, Microsoft etc.
This is particularly important in hotels wherein multiple users log into the system through different user roles. Thus, even if he/she does find out what the administrator's password is, the system keeps a log of who authenticated it and did what.
Also, there's a feature to keep a successful login session for up to 5 days for convenience. This removes the need to enter an OTP for each login. To maintain security, users can be required to re-authenticate at configurable intervals, for example, up to six times per month. This strikes the right balance between strong security and a seamless user experience.
Please note that the same rule applies to service engineers, vendors or other external persons who are accessing the system. Every action is logged and traceable, so there is always a clear record of who did what.
Why It Matters
In most hotel systems, details about the change made, its time, place and user ID are recorded. However, tracking down the specific individual involved may require the use of CCTV. Without such footage, the investigation will be tedious.
2FA verifies every login, creating accountability at the point of access. It prevents unauthorized changes before they cause profit leakage.
Business Impact of Booking Master’s 2FA
2FA prevents fraud, theft, hacking, unauthorized access and revenue leakage. Even if a password is stolen, attackers cannot log in without the second verification step. Every action is linked to a verified user, including hotel staff, service engineers and vendors. This protects both hotel revenue and guest data.
Message from Booking Master
“Hoteliers put in years building their business. Our Hotel Software is designed to protect that investment. They deserve to know exactly who is accessing their system. Profit leakage in their business often comes down to weak login security. 2FA gives our partners a system they can trust, where every login and change can be traced back to a real person.”
